MKR is a cryptocurrency depicted as a smart contract platform and works alongside the Dai coin and aims to act as a hedge currency that provides traders with a stable alternative to the majority of coins currently available on the market. Maker offers a transparent stablecoin system that is fully inspectable on the Ethereum blockchain. Founded almost three years ago, MakerDao is lead by Rune Christensen, its CEO and founder. Maker’s MKR coin is a recent entrant to the market and is not a well known project. However, after today it will be known by many more people after blowing up 40% and it is one of the coins to rise to prominence during the recent peaks and troughs. After being developed by the MakerDAO team, Maker Dai officially went live on December 18th, 2017. Dai is a price stable coin that is suitable for payments, savings, or collateral and provides cryptocurrency traders with increased options concerning opening and closing positions. Dai lives completely on the blockchain chain with its stability unmediated by the legal system or trusted counterparties and helps facilitate trading while staying entirely in the world of cryptocurrencies. The concept of a stablecoin is fairly straight forward – it’s a token that has its price or value pegged to a particular fiat currency. A stablecoin is a token (like Bitcoin and Ethereum) that exists on a blockchain, but unlike Bitcoin or Ethereum, Dai has no volatility. MKR is an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain and can not be mined. It’s instead created/destroyed in response to DAI price fluctuations in order to keep it hovering around $1 USD. MKR is used to pay transaction fees on the Maker system, and it collateralizes the system. Holding MKR comes with voting rights within Maker’s continuous approval voting system. Bad governance devalues MKR tokens, so MKR holders are incentivized to vote for the good of the entire system. It’s a fully decentralized and democratic structure, then, which is an underutilized USP of blockchain tech. Value volatility is a relative concept among both cryptos and fiat currencies. The US dollar, for example, was worth 110.748 yen on July 9, 2018. On July 4, 2011, $1 was worth 80.64 yen, and on March 18, 1985, $1 was worth 255.65 yen. These are major differences in exchange rates, and inflation within each country makes each currency worth different values even when compared to themselves. One USD in 1913 is worth the equivalent of $25.41 today, and even $1 in 1993 is worth the equivalent of $1.74 today. Stablecoins don’t negate these basic economic principles of value. Instead, both Tether and Dai have values pegged to the U.S. dollar. This is done to stabilize the price.

Supply data for MKR is not fully reported on-chain, so treat valuation figures with caution.
We are not auditors and we do not certify any token as safe. What follows are measurable facts read from the chain, each one stated so you can check it yourself. The index simply summarises them into a number: MKR sits at 94/100. Every threshold and penalty behind that figure is published in full on our methodology page.
These checks come from GoPlus Security, an independent contract scanner. We publish their reading, we do not produce it.
MKR is a Ethereum token, so its price is set entirely by what happens in its liquidity pools rather than by any order book. Volume is low relative to the $1.47M sitting in the pool, so the price can stay flat for long stretches and then jump when a single sizeable order arrives. The main drivers are the depth of that pool, how concentrated the holder base is, general Ethereum market conditions, and social attention. For a token with a A grade, position size discipline matters more than any price prediction.

Liquidity spread across several pools generally means a healthier market: a single pool is easier to drain or manipulate than four.

Every token this size gets asked where the price is going, and nobody honest can answer that. What can be answered is what each target would require. MKR trades at $1,432.4 today. For each target price below, the table shows what the whole supply would be worth at that price, and how that compares to assets people already know.
| Target price | Multiple from today | Implied valuation | For scale |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5,000 | 3.5x | $439.30M | a mid-tier crypto asset |
| $10,000 | 7.0x | $878.60M | a mid-tier crypto asset |
| $20,000 | 14.0x | $1.76B | a large-cap crypto asset |
This is arithmetic, not a forecast. Nobody can tell you where MKR will trade. What the table does tell you is the size of the move being asked for, which is usually the missing piece when people ask whether a token can reach a given price.
Maker (MKR) trades at $1,432.4, fallen -0.99% over the last 24 hours.
We are not auditors and do not certify tokens. Measured from the chain, MKR sits at 94 out of 100 on our on-chain health index, computed from liquidity, volume quality, buy/sell balance and pair age. No mechanical red flags were detected, which is not a guarantee of safety.
The tracked pool holds $1.47M of liquidity. Liquidity determines how much you can trade before moving the price and how easily you can exit.
MKR trades on Ethereum, mainly through Uniswap V2, across 20 tracked pools. Always paste the contract address instead of searching by ticker.
MKR has traded $12.4K in the last 24 hours across 90 transactions, split 29 buys and 61 sells.
The tracked MKR pool was created 5 years ago, on Oct 11, 2021.

The lowest daily price on record is $1,132.43, on Jun 27, 2026, putting the current price +26.5% above it.
MKR is still trading, but barely. The pool moved $12.4K across 90 transactions against $1.47M still sitting in liquidity, a turnover of 0.8% of the pool. That is quiet rather than dead: the market exists and you can still get out, but thin turnover means a sell of any size will move the price against you. The pool was created 5 years ago.
The MKR contract address on Ethereum is 0x9f8f72aa9304c8b593d555f12ef6589cc3a579a2. Check it against the address published by the project itself before buying: tickers and names are copied freely, the address is the only thing that identifies a token. This page links it straight to the block explorer so you can verify supply, holders and transfers yourself.
Sells are going through (61 in the last 24 hours), which means the token is not blocking exits at this time. Always test a small sell first.
